Took a while to decide — was comparing the cropped photo with this larger view — but I think I like the larger view better. A vision of abandonment and decay — yet it’s softened by the pastels. Very interesting.
Have you ever explored larger abandoned buildings? Urban decay photos are absolutely fascinating.
Oh, yeah! Ruins porn. I’m totally fascinated.
Getting the lighting right is the trick. I have a lot to learn, as images in this series show: e.g., different rooms in the same image, lit differently; combined interior, bright exterior; etc. It’s a challenge in most photographs, but most particularly so in these naturally lit interiors. I don’t want the space(s) equally lit, but if there is a window out into a bright space with interesting content, like a tree or the horizon, I want it exposed properly, not overexposed. Partly that can be done with Lightroom or Photoshop, but mostly it’s done at the moment of capture. There are ways to do that that I need to learn.
